João Gil Figueira (JD, LLM, MMgt) is the appointed Managing Partner of Gil Figueira & Devillet Lima Advogados and a practicing Portuguese Tax and Business lawyer based in Lisbon.
Mr. Gil Figueira has extensive experience in all tax, commercial and governance aspects of cross-border investment and international business transactions. He represents and advises clients operating worldwide in sectors such as IT/Media, Intellectual Property, Real Estate, M&A, Finance, Manufacturing and Consumer Products.
His practice is related to foreign companies establishing and/or expanding operations in Portuguese speaking countries or Portuguese and Brazilian companies expanding overseas. He is regularly involved in the acquisition of assets and shareholdings in several jurisdictions and in the structuring of inbound and outbound investments and transactions.
Mr. Gil Figueira is counsel to Boards of Directors of several companies and non-for profit organizations. He lectures Corporate Taxation at a Portuguese University, has authored several publications regarding doing business in Portugal, is a regular contributor to local and international publications and blogs regarding Business Law, Tax and Economics and is often a speaker at conferences and seminars.
He also advises private investors in relation to taxation matters and residency/citizenship in Portugal and Portuguese speaking countries.
